It's hard to believe, but my country only has two Online casinos: Estoril Sol Casinos and BetClic. Surprising, but it's just as it is. I wonder if it's the country in the world with less online casinos!

I'll take a look around for your Oportosanto but I believe while there are a few good ones that accept players from your country, you might have some restrictions in place. For example I think at Raging Bull you may be able to play but you may not be able to take advantage of bonuses until you have made at least 3 real-money deposits. I will check later on today and report back to you.

Thanks @SherKev and yes, most likely there are other casinos where I can play, it's just a shame that in Portugal are two legalized ones, it doesn't make any sense in my head.

I know that PokerStars have recently said that they are on the verge of going live in Portugal, if that helps @oportosanto. Portugal it seems as been dragging it's heels somewhat in regards to online gambling, and while there have been rules in place that have prevented the major players from getting into the Portuguese market, those rules have (eventually) now been modified to try and attract more competition in there, so hopefully PokerStars might be the first of many you can choose from in the upcoming months.

The thing is that I believe our laws are protecting some internal interests and not the interests of people that want to play online. I mean, every country tries to do that, but this is taken to an extreme here.

As you say, that does go on in more or less every country and Portugal is no exception. I'm far from an expert on the gambling rules and regulations in your country but I do remember reading that the laws have been relaxed a little back at the beginning of this year and if PokerStars are going to be the first to take advantage of that and it works, I can see others joining the market also.

It does look as though the Portuguese government aren't keen on the idea of opening out the market as it's said that even though the laws have been relaxed, they will only grant a licence to companies after thorough scrutiny and that tends to suggest to me that it's still ring-fenced to a certain degree. Up to now I think they have granted maybe 4 licences since April so it really is going to be a slow process it seems.

I don't think the laws have been relaxed, even if I am not an expert, at the same time what I do know is that a few months ago I could play at bet 365 and casino 888 and now I cannot. I don't know what other casinos might have been ruled out.

4 licenses? That I am aware of, only 2 are operating. Who are those other 2?

Same thing is happening in AU as well as the US.. Just watched the problems with the elections in the Philippines also not to long ago.. Its very funny how we are all in different countries very far apart, but we all seem to have the same problems with government.

Yeah, the government needs money, so makes the deals that are most profitable to them regardless of what the populations want. It's like this in gambling and in all other areas.
